Enigma Solutions (Pty) Ltd (“Enigma”) is an independent asset consulting and actuarial firm that provides stakeholders with a support structure to manage their employee benefit arrangements. Enigma was established in February 2000 by SARHWU Investment Holdings Limited, the investment company of the then South African Railway and Harbour Workers Union.

  1. Enigma Solutions does not provide any investments products or portfolios or investment administration platform services, nor does it have any preferred or pre-negotiated investment solution and therefore it can provide totally independent, undisputed and unbiased advice to its institutional Clients.
  2. The company provides assets consulting service on a book in excess of 6 billion rand which ranges from segregated, pooled on different licenses to various liability driven investment solutions. In the balance of our document the names of our clients are highlighted.
    Enigma Solutions is not a product provider nor an administrator Its complaints resolution framework is provided by the compliance officer and incorporates all Treating Customers Fairly (“TCF”) outcomes as expected by the FSCA.
Enigma Solutions’ ability to deliver is underpinned by a team of highly technical and experienced consultants, most of whom, were previously employed in senior management positions of leading firms in employee benefits and whose contributions have been recognised in the industry.

Stefan Pomeissl

Director (B Econ (Hons), Fifm - ceo

Stefan Pomeissl is the CEO Enigma and resides in Johannesburg. He has over 36 years of experience (after completing his Studies in New York) in employee benefits from Retirement fund investments at Old Mutual, to a Regional General Manager at Norwich Life and current CEO of Enigma (19 years). He sits on several retirement fund boards and is the Chairman of eFund Umbrella Retirement Pension and Provident Funds (18 000+ members).

Bryan Kgosana Shuping

Bryan Kgosana Shuping has 25 years of management experience in Local Government and the Retirement Fund Industry. He left Local Government after having reached his ceiling as Chief Executive Officer (now called Municipal Manager), after which he joined Old Mutual’s Employee Benefits and eventually headed the public sector division in Retirement Fund Consulting. He further heads Enigma Solutions consultancy and day to day client services team. A stickler for good corporate governance and administrative processes, he ensures compliance both for the business and clients alike. He has been an executive director for over three years.

Tersia de Villiers

Tersia de Villiers has 32 years experience in employee benefits. She is an FSA™ member of the Financial Planning Institute and a ACIS member of the Chartered Governance Institute of SA. She joined a company in 1986 who administered their own three private funds where she assisted the portfolio manager in the administration of the investments of the various asset classes as well as gaining trustee secretarial experience. In 1998 she joined Sanlam Consultants & Actuaries where she gained extensive experience for 10 years as a consultant in various areas of the employee benefits industry. She joined Enigma Solutions over 12 years ago.

Clifford Ray

Clifford Ray, has over 37 years of employee benefits and administration experience. He learnt his trade at Legal & General and Norwich Life where he headed the client services operation in Gauteng. He worked on schemes such as Murray and Roberts (Claim management), First National Bank (Mortgage Protection Scheme), Eskom (Mortgage Protection and Voluntary Endowment Schemes) through leading brokerage and consulting firms. Cliff has been an Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute since 1991. He joined Enigma Solutions over 15 years ago.

Mike Robertson

Mike Robertson career in the financial services industry started when he joined Alexander Forbes as an employee benefits administrator in 1990. Within 5 years he was promoted to a Branch Head position and was deployed to various branches across Southern Africa. After 17 years of service, he joined NBC to head up the Branch servicing an industry fund with over 100 000 members, following which he was subsequently promoted to National Head of Administration. Mike, who has a Higher Diploma in Retirement Fund Management through Monash University, joined Enigma Solutions in 2015 as a Corporate Relationship Manager and currently services some of Enigma Solutions’ larger clients.
